It’s Christmas time in Victorian London. On patrol, police officer Peterson witnesses a fight between a gentleman and some thugs. At the sight of the police officer everyone runs off, the gentleman leaving being his hat and a Christmas goose. While cooking the goose – for what else can be done with it – Peterson’s wife discovers a priceless gem in the crop of the bird, the very stone stolen a few days earlier from the Countess of Morcar. High time for Peterson’s friends Holmes and Watson to take a closer look at the gentleman’s hat and begin to hunt for the thief… …followed by dramatised readings of other short stories with a Christmas/winter theme in the second half on the programme
Es weihnachtet im Viktorianischen London. Auf Patrouille wird Polizist Peterson Zeuge eines Streits zwischen einem Gentleman und ein paar Raufbolden. Beim Erscheinen des Ordnungshüters ergreifen alle die Flucht; der Gentleman lässt seinen Hut und eine Weihnachtsgans zurück. Beim Kochen der Gans – denn was soll man anderes mit ihr anfangen – entdeckt Petersons Ehefrau ein unschätzbar kostbares Juwel, das kurz zuvor der Gräfin von Morcar gestohlen wurde. Petersons Freunde Holmes und Watson machen sich auf die Suche nach dem Dieb…
